A little discouraged

Hi All,
I have been doing the Cuves circuit for two weeks, eating 1400 calories a day and have only lost one pound. I do put a lot into my circuit as I am sweating profusely by the end of the 30 minutes. What am I doing wrong to have only lost the one pound?

Cassidy, I feel your pain. I don't have the background or knowledge these women do, but I do know you have come to the right place for advice and support.

Hi Cassidy!

Let's take a look here. Your body is doing a lot of adjusting as you're increasing your exercising and modifying your eating. It is very common that people do not lose (and often gain, in fact) within the first month or 2 as muscle is building up (which results in a gain). So, the biggest key is patience right now. If you keep up the plan you're on, plus making sure you're drinking lots of water, you'll suddenly see a difference. It will happen! And when it does, get ready! Good luck!!! It will happen!

It's common concern! Please read the link below. There's a "sticky" that talks about not losing weight during the first month.

Hi Cassidy,
ok, I am no expert but I try to inform myself on things by reading articles online and stuff...so take my advice with a grain of salt?
When you start exercising (especially strength training) your body changes. Veins adjust and can expand to move blood and oxygen faster through your body. Therefore it is not unusual to gain or not lose a few weeks after starting an exercise program.
Are you sure you are eating enough? I know that the Curves eating plan suggest to eat around 1200 calories and then start eating 1500, but if you weigh enough, you may need to eat more. You could google something like calorie calculator and find one that you can put in your age, weight and gender to see how many calories you need to eat to lose weight. Personally I use Sparkpeople.com because it has great articles and I can count my calories there rather than on paper (unless you prefer paper, excel or another program). also make sure you are drinking 8 cups of water or so, especially on workout days.
Good luck!

Kahlan - I was using Fitday for a long time but not really liking it a whole lot - so when you said you use SparkPeople I checked that out. I like it so far - but am very confused by inputting the exercise. How do you get your Curves in there? There is no general circuit training option, and nowhere to just input calories burned (I do the Curves Smart, so I get the read-out estimate every workout of how many calories I burned).
